Description : Will be assigned to 1 of over 10 restaurants in this restaurant group on arrival. All restaurants are located in excellent locations in New York City. May be required to change restaurant after arrival based on restaurant group needs and your abilities. All positions require the ability to lift, bend and the ability to stand for the entire shift. All positions require some cleaning. You will be trained as a Cook. MUST HAVING ESTABLISHED COOKING EXPERIENCE! Must understand cooking terms and techniques such as "braise, saute, broil, roast, fry". Will be responsible for one area of the kitchen and will report to the head chef. Cook positions include titles such as; Saute Cook, Grill Cook, Prep Cook, Line Cook, etc.. Your title, position and duties will depend on the restaurant where you are placed. MUST be friendly, organized, professional and flexible. MUST be willing to change positions to meet restaurant needs. MUST be able to multi-task and work well under stress in a fast paced environment. MUST be able to work any shift scheduled including holidays and late nights. Must work well with others as a restaurant is a team effort! MUST maintain established health and safety standards. Duties include but are not limited to; learning menu, reading tickets (food orders), preparing cooking area, preparing meats and other food, following established recipes, performing duties in a timely manner, cleaning. If you are unable to perform the duties of a COOK you may be relocated to another position such as kitchen, dishwasher or other.

Clothing:Employer will provide company shirt and pants for all cook positions. Student must wear non-slip restaurant shoes. Long hair must be pulled away from face and secured. A hair net will be required. Males must be clean shaved. NO visible tattoos. NO piercing except conservative ear piercing. No jewelry. Student must be clean and well-groomed at all times.
